Lotus Drop (Week 26 of 52)

Hello My Friends,

I freaking love science.  A buddy of mine sent me a link to Never Wet.  This stuff is Awesome.  It is a coating product that creates a superhydrophobic layer on the object it is sprayed on.  In other words, it prevents water from sticking.   Rustoleum sales it for $20 at Home Depot. 

I call this one "Lotus Drop", since a Lotus leaf beads water similarly.

Can you guess what I coated?  I will give you a hint, its ratio is 6.14 x 2.61.

A Walk to the Park (Week 25 of 2013)

Hello My Friends,

This week I was trying compose with leading lines and symmetry.  I took this one at Hemisphere Park on a Sunny day.  No golden hour here, just hot blazing hour.
It is a hand shot (i.e. no tripod), f/4.5, 1/200, ISO 100, 85mm.

I have also been trying to crop in camera (i.e. compose the shot I want) and not crop post process.  Trying to do better at this to reduce time editing and spend more time shooting.   

Again here are two of my favorite models (my girls).  I call this one "A Walk to the Park".

Vino (Week 24 of 2013)

Hello My Friends,

Sorry I have been gone for so long. 
Here is one I call "Vino"

It's a shot of my wine glass with reflective light in the background. 
I was actually trying for a rim reflection effect, but I need more practice setting that shot up.

That's right, full frame baby!  Looking forward to seeing what this puppy can do.

Flying the Sun (1/52-2013)

Hello my friends,

I hope everyone is doing well.
I wanted to tkank all the 52 pic club members for all the inspiration they gave me from all there wonderful photos in 2012.  I kinda fell off with my contributions towand the last quarter of the year, only making 33 of 52 pics for the year.   

Here is one for the start of this year.  I call it "Flying the Sun". 
Paula (my wife) came up with the idea. 

The exposure was tricky due to the sun, but with several attemps and a little processing, I am happy with it.

Tunnel (33 of 52)

Hello My Friends,

I have gotten a little behind on my photo taking for the 52 pic club.  Its been a busy couple of months, but I am not complaining, life is good.  I hope to play catch-up in the next few weeks. 

My wife and I went to a concert recently and I captured this one.  (The Red Hot Chili Peppers for those who are interested.)  I was playing with long exposure.  I just simply rotated the camera as I took the photo.

I call this one "Tunnel".

Where's the Parvins (32 of 52)

Hi all,

The wife and I took the kids to LEGO Fest this past weekend.  It was quite impressive.  Tons of people, lots of neat stuff.  We had a blast. 

Here is one from that adventure.  I call it " Where's the Parvins"

And yes that is a sea of LEGO bricks on the floor.

Texas Strong (31 of 50)

Hello My Friends,
 
At the Institute of Texan Cultures museum in San Antonio, Tx there is a huge neon Texas Flag inside.  I always wanted to take a Silhouette photo there with my girls.  Well I had my opportunity this past Friday. 

This feature is located in the main hall, so it's difficult to get a clean shot without someone walking in frame.  I think I took about a dozen photos and only got 2 that I didn't have an extra body, foot, head, etc in it.

f/6.3 1/60sec ISO 400. 

The framing on this shot was challenging.  I was trying to maintain a standard frame ratio and keep the flag still looking like a flag, as well as, keeping the girls silhouette still looking natural and not cut off.   

I call this one "Texas Strong"
