River Salute (12 of 52)

Hello my friends,

Last weekend the wife and I had a chance to drive around the Texas hill country.  We came across this river while driving to Sisterdale, Tx.  I believe it is part of the Guadalupe river.  I had to pull over and take this photo.  I call it "River Salute" because the trees look like they are saluting the river as it goes by.

  1. A really beautiful shot. Very peaceful scene. If I had to make any suggestion for change, it would be to crop just a little off the top of the shot. It looks a little too tall for its width and the uppermost branches don't add to the picture in my opinion. I'd keep all the width, but reduce the height to make an 8x10 ratio. (Easier to print that way, too.) 8=)

  2. @BigOwl... good eye! The crop ratio is actually 5x7. I tried an 8x10 ratio, but I did not like the feel it gave this composition. Good point though on the printing. Thanks AP

  3. This came out nicely. I like the emerald green peeking out of the trees. Looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie.
