Shadow of a Man (5 of 52)

Hello my friends,

Here is one for this week. I call it A Shadow Of A Man.  I have been wanting to try this one for some time.  I am not completely satisfied with the background or angle, but a rare opportunity presented itself one evening so I grabbed it.  I will definitely try this one again.

  1. I like it! You probably don't want to give away your secrets, but I'd really like to know how you did it.

  2. @BigOwl: Thanks. No secret. Like I mentioned I have been wanting to do this photo project for some time, so I knew I would have to take them either early in the morning or late evening to get a decent shadow. This was taken late evening. I setup a tripod and took a few shots (on a timer) to get the desired framing of the shadow. Once I had the correct setting (ISO 100, F/11, 1/125sec) I captured the 1st picture with me in it. Then I carefully removed my boots, noting there position as not to move them, and stepped out of them. Leaving them in their original position. Then I took another photo of just the boots. I merged the images in Photoshop Elements and masked/erased the original me, only leaving my shadow. AP

  3. Cool composite shot. I also like the crossing angles in the image it give the composition good visual tension.
